Hear from Custom Rubber and Urethane Experts

Industrial Rubber Uses

Rubber is so much more than just the material that your tires and gloves are made out of. Nearly every product you use in everyday life requires some form of it, and the following are just a few of the many ways that industrial rubber is used in our daily lives.

Transportation

All methods of transportation use rubber in some form. Your car has several rubber components, including:

  • Seating
  • Bumpers
  • Belts
  • Hoses
  • Sound insulation
  • Covers
  • Gaskets

Buses, boats, trains, helicopters, and airplanes also consist of rubber in their covers, bumpers, hatch seals, grommets, and endless other parts.

Household appliances

Rubber is everywhere you look. In your home, there’s rubber in your fridge, washing machine, dish washer, air conditioner, and even your toilet and sink.

While you may not see these components on the outside of your appliances, rubber tubes, seals, valves, hoses, and vibration mounts are what keep all of your machines functioning properly.

Safety features

Rubber is one of the most durable and trusted materials used for safety features. From sealing medical implants, to creating cones and speed bumps to safely direct traffic, the possibilities are endless.

Parents trust rubber to create safe products for children, such as certain car seats, toys, and pacifiers. It is also used to manufacture agricultural and construction equipment, like power tools that require rubber to secure bearings and add grip.

The future of the rubber industry

While rubber is considered an essential raw material, the industry was harmed when the demand dropped 14% within the first seven months of this year.

Thankfully, the International Rubber Study Group predicts that rubber demand will pick back up in this last quarter of 2020 and grow to reach 2.8 percent year-on-year in 2021. At Mark Tool and Rubber, we look forward to meeting your industrial rubber demands. We’ve been industry leaders for decades and are trusted by some of the world’s biggest oil and gas companies.
